My name is Dr. Peter Hülse .


I deliver the best, customer-project focused service. My skills are based on many years professional research experience as a petrographer and geologist working on industry-funded projects, compiling and interpreting data from the field, petrographic thin sections, and various geochemical analyses.

Dr. Peter Hülse

I am an internationally experienced geologist with expertise in sedimentology, petrography, fieldwork, and the leadership of industry-funded research projects.


I currently work on projects and samples from Arctic Canada, Greenland, Barents Sea, Caspian Sea area, Siberia, North Atlantic African-European Margin, and Ethiopia.


Before I decided to become an independent geologist and petrographer, I worked as a research geologist at CASP, Cambridge, UK. I led the Canadian Arctic Islands Project and several research expeditions to the Canadian Arctic. I contributed as research geologist to the North Atlantic Margins Evolution Project.


I earned my Ph.D. from the Department of Earth Sciences, Memorial University of Newfoundland, St. John's, Canada. Thesis: Climatically controlled variations of freshwater and sediment discharge in Hudson Bay and the fiords of Labrador during the past 10,000 years.


I graduated as M.Sc. (German diploma) in geology from the Department for Earth and Environmental Sciences, Ludwig Maximilian’s University, Munich, Germany. My majors were resource and economic geology, as well as geochemistry. Thesis: Microfacies analyses of shallowing upward cycles of a Late Carboniferous carbonate platform in NE Spitsbergen.
